Today’s fast-paced life barely leaves women with any time to spend at the spa… Even a one-off trip’s benefits are short lived. Here are five everyday secrets for having an immaculately invigorated exterior, all of which can be done in the comfort of your home!
De-Puff Those Tired Eyes
Green tea is the preferred ingredient. Buy an iced-tea version and mix a batch to keep in the fridge. Soak a couple of cotton rounds in the tea and lay them on your eyes. The caffeine helps to shrink the appearance of the blood vessels, and the antioxidants help eliminate inflammation. Raw potatoes cooled in the refrigerator can also be used to reduce puffiness—just peel and slice them before applying to the eye area. The potato acts as a natural astringent and will take down the swelling.
Super-Soft Luscious Lips
Use this gentle, all-natural exfoliator a few times a week to get totally kissable lips! Ingredients Required: 1 Tbsp white sugar, 1 Tsp raw cacao powder, 1 Tbsp raw honey. Combine ingredients in a small container. Apply a thin layer on the lips and let sit for 10 minutes then scrub away for perfectly soft lips!
Zit Zapping
Apply a dollop of toothpaste to the pimple overnight. The clay and mint in toothpaste help to shrink and dry up the offending zit, without causing irritation or scars. Remember: you should never pop or squeeze pimples.
Get Glowing Skin
Mix a body scrub with coconut oil, brown sugar, and lemon. In a bowl, warm a 1/2 cup of virgin coconut oil in the microwave. Once warm, add 1/2 a cup of brown sugar. Squeeze in half a lemon and blend. The coconut oil moisturizes your skin while the brown sugar and lemon buff away any dry or dead skin cells. This can be used all over the body in the shower for glowing, beautiful skin and specifically on the hands and feet during hot summers.
A Homemade Cheek and Lip Stain
Create your own double-duty make up. This pretty cheek-and-lip stain adds just a hint of color, so it’s perfect for everyday wear. Ingredients needed: 1 small beet, peeled and sliced, 2 Tbsp coconut oil, and 1 Tsp raw honey lip balm… Place water in the bottom part of a double boiler and bring to a boil. In the top part, place coconut oil and beets. Let simmer for 20 minutes before removing from the heat. Stir in honey and let cool to room temperature. Remove beet slices and transfer mixture to a small lip balm pot. Store in the fridge for up to 4 weeks.
