In a modern day David and Goliath-style showdown, Tesla’s all-electric model S P90D takes on a gas-guzzling Boeing 737-800 jetliner (with a cruising top speed of 840 km/h).

The insane video above was envisioned and produced as part of a joint partnership between Australian airline Qantas and Elon Musk-owned Tesla, in which the two companies are collaborating to “drive innovation and sustainability in the transport industry”.

Tesla introduced its P90D variant with a ‘Ludicrous Mode‘ for the performance model. The P90D combines a front axle power of 259 horsepower and rear axle power of 503 horsepower for a total of 762 horsepower and a 0–60 mph time of just 2.8 sec. The acceleration of the P90D can reach 1.1g, which has been described by Tesla as “faster than falling”.
