Prepare yourself for the ensanguined violence expected from Leonardo DiCaprio’s highly-awaited next film ‘The Revenant’.
For director Alejandro González Inarittu’s latest flick, DiCaprio is reported to have slept in animal carcasses and eaten raw bison, taking method acting to the next level. DiCaprio even went for regular swims in frozen waters, physically and psychologically challenging himself further than ever before.
In my opinion, the best example of method acting so far has to have been Heath Ledger’s portrayal of the Joker in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight. But with Leo’s latest attempt at an Oscar expected, we may just have to re-think that.
“I can name 30 or 40 sequences that were some of the most difficult things I’ve ever had to do,” DiCaprio stated to Yahoo Movies. “Whether it’s going in and out of frozen rivers, or sleeping in animal carcasses, or what I ate on set. [I was] enduring freezing cold and possible hypothermia constantly.”
The Revenant is set to hit cinemas on December 25th. In the meantime if you haven’t already, check out the hair-raising trailer above.
