Despite losing out on the part of ‘Doctor Strange’ to Benedict Cumberbatch, Hollywood heartthrob Jared Leto may just land another (more iconic) comic book role… Previously brought to life on the big screen by Oscar-winners Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger, Leto is now reportedly being considered for the role of the Joker.

According to Mashable, the ‘Requiem for a Dream’ star is under consideration to play the maniacal super villain in the upcoming film ‘Suicide Squad’ alongside British bad girl Cara Delevingne. According to the Latino Review, Delevingne is in discussions to play the Joker’s girlfriend Harley Quinn. The film itself is about the Suicide Squad comic in which the government turns supervillains into the good guys for an all-important assignment.

Film reporter Jeff Sneider confirmed that Leto is in the running to play Batman’s arch nemesis. He would have huge shoes to fill considering the calibre of previous Joker performances but with a recently-won Oscar of his own for the ‘Dallas Buyers Club’, Leto is on a hot streak.

Other super villains expected to feature in the film will reportedly include Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor from the highly-awaited ‘Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice’, as well as versatile talent Tom Hardy, action man Will Smith and hottie biscuit Margot Robbie.
