With boutique automobile manufacturers Tesla and Fisker hogging the limelight German motoring giant Porsche, takes them into sights with its latest technological innovation the Mission E Concept. Though not the prettiest car they’ve produced, the hyper-futuristic mean machine dishes out 590 horsepower and has a reported 310-mile range on battery. Pretty standard so far… But what is it about this concept that has Tesla and Fisker so worried?
In two words: Charging capability. We’ve all noticed how the “smarter” our phones get, the lesser their battery life seems to last. Well “smart cars” pose the same problem. But the four-door Mission E Concept, takes that problem and crushes it with an 800-volt system that can charge the car 80 percent in just 15 minutes. Throw on-top of that a zero to 62 mph time of just 3.5 seconds and you can begin to understand why it’s already been dubbed the “Tesla-killer”.
