Somebody wise once said to me “Bro you can’t buy happiness… But you can buy a sportscar, and that’s basically the same thing!”

Sadly, irrespective of where you live in Pakistan things like VAT and import duty will bleed you dry and buying a sportscar isn’t always the most practical option… But who buys a sportscar to be practical anyway?

Then of course there are other factors to consider: sky-high insurance premiums, value depreciation, and security — nobody wants to spend 40 lakh on a sportscar and then another 40 lakh on a Vigo to ‘protocol’ you around town.

But putting all that sh*t aside for a minute, sportscars are great and possess a spirit of their own. It is in this spirit (and after hours of research) that we present to you a list of the five best pre-owned sportscars in Pakistan right now.

2005 Nissan 350Z Roadster
Talk about a bargain… With just 44,000 km on the clock, a 2005 Nissan 350Z Roadster will set you back a reasonable 28 lakhs. Powered by a monstrous 3.5-liter V6 engine, this Beast from the East comes fully loaded with a six-speed manual transmission, leather seats, Bose sound system and rear view camera. And did we mention it’s a convertible? 22004 Mercedes Benz SLK 200
The Mercedes Benz SLK is among the finer things in life… Powered by a (somewhat) fuel efficient 1.8-liter engine, this German juggernaut packs a powerful punch. With 63,000 km on the dash, a 2004 Mercedes Benz SLK 200 should set you back somewhere in the region of 29-30 lakhs. Options include keyless entry, cruise control, power EVERYTHING and a drop-top that’ll make you feel like you’re cruising through the streets of California.3 2011 Mazda RX-8
When it comes to value for money, you can’t get a better deal than this… A 2011 Mazda RX-8 (Japan import) with 18,000 km on the clock, for a bargain price of just 24 lakhs. Powered by a 1.3-liter engine, the car comes fully loaded with every option imaginable: On-board navigation, 19-inch alloys, xenon headlamps, you name it – this car has it!42011 Honda CRZ
The only Hybrid on the list, there’s a lot more to Honda’s CRZ than meets the eye… Now I’ll be honest it took a while to grow on me, but I’ve learned (over time) to appreciate it for what it is – a 130 horsepower Japanese rocket! Powered by a nimble 1.5-liter engine, the CRZ is the perfect size car for the streets of Karachi. Fully-loaded with 23,000 km on-the-clock Honda’s hybrid hatchback will set you back a modest 23 lakhs.52006 Porsche Boxster S
Vroom Vroom Shake the Room… Face it; no sportscar list is complete without a Porsche! Granted this happens to be the most expensive pre-owned car on the list, but for true sportscar enthusiasts it doesn’t get much better than this. A 2006 Porsche Boxster S with 60,000 km on the clock will set you back between 64-65 lakh rupees. Available in either a 2.7 or 3.2-liter engine, this convertible roadster is the pinnacle of German engineering (sort of). Are you an attention whore? Then THIS is the car for you!6
