According to a report in show-business daily Variety, Zack Snyder’s ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ is bolting towards a $170 million opening weekend.

Of that $170 million, the sequel to ‘Man of Steel’ made a whopping $82 million on its first day — an undeniable feat in itself. Though reviews have been mixed (at best) it’s safe to say based on box office figures that the future of Warner Bros’ Justice League franchise is secure.

That being said, although the film is seeing some ridiculous financial success right now, it’s important to remember that unlike a movie like ‘The Conjuring’ which was made on a shoestring budget of $20 million, ‘Batman V Superman’ was made on a whopping $250 million budget — so proportionally it’s not a massive success just yet.

Nevertheless if box office figures continue to climb the way they are, the film has the potential to become the fifth highest grossing movie opening of all time, coming in behind ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, ‘The Avengers’, ‘Jurassic World’, and ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’.
