It’s no secret that Toyota has been actively testing the facelift version of the Fortuner SUV. Camouflaged test mules of the Forty and the Hilux Revo have been spotted numerous times over the last few months, cruising through the streets of Bangkok.

Now, courtesy of Russian site kolesa.ru, exterior images of the Fortuner facelift have found their way online. The leaked images give us a better idea of what we can expect when Toyota officially debuts the facelift in Japan, later this year.

The newly-designed beast from the East gets a cosmetic upgrade that boasts a much more aggressive look. The headlamps appear more angular, with updated LED DRL stripes. A new front bumper with wider lines give the SUV a more beefy persona, with a compact upper grille and a larger, inverted air intake. Changes at the rear include tweaked tail lights with L-shaped light reflectors.

There will also reportedly be a dual-tone paint scheme on offer, in which the upper and lower grilles, side mirrors, roof and roof spoiler will be painted in a contrasting colour. New 20-inch rims round up the exterior upgrades giving the show-stopping SUV a more ‘refreshed’ look.

No news on interior upgrades yet, but we’re sure to expect an upgraded infotainment system alongside minor enhancements, like upgraded upholstery. Engine options however are likely to remain the same.
