After Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau became one of the first world leaders to condemn the “deplorable bombing in Lahore” and send out condolences to the affected families, Toronto’s mayor, John Tory, posted an image of the city’s three-dimensional sign lit up in the colours of the Pakistani flag.

Tory said the move was slightly delayed due to some technical glitches, but the sentiments of Canadians about the unfortunate incident were clear; they stood in solidarity with the victims of terror in Pakistan, and indeed, anywhere in the world.

The 3D TORONTO sign is part of the Host City Showcase Program put up to celebrate the Pan American Games and the Parapan American Games. Located at the Nathan Phillips Square, alongside a reflecting pool that mirrors the City Hall Towers, it forms a memorable backdrop for photos taken by residents and visitors.

Omni Hotel in Dallas, USA, was the first to respond to the carnage in Punjab by displaying the green and white Pakistani flag colours.
