‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ is looking to be a major hit in 2015. A reboot of the classic ‘Mad Max’ that gave Mel Gibson his big break, the hotly-anticipated action adventure sees Gibson replaced by Tom Hardy as Max Rockatansky. Co-starring with Hardy is Charlize Theron, as Imperator Furiosa, who is sporting an all new rough-and-tough bald look. Original director George Miller returns to behind the camera for what promises to be a cinematic masterpiece.

According to IMDb, ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ is “An apocalyptic story set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and almost everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life.” Max and Furiosa are “two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order.”

Theron’s prosthetic left arm will be one of the few special effects utilized by director George Miller. About 80% of the film has been made without the use of CGI, heavily relying on professional stunts, sets and make-up. Hugh Keays-Byrne will be featuring in his second Mad Max film after his appearance in the 1979 original as Toecutter. Rumor has it Gibson may feature in a cameo as a drifter.

Production had started in 2003 in Namibia but due to security concerns stemming from the Iraq war, the project was shelved until 2009. Jeremy Renner, famous for his role as ‘Hawkeye’ in ‘The Avengers’, was reportedly very interested in playing the new Max… But it appears it was not meant to be.
