The Fantastic Four franchise has now been rebooted thrice. The first film directed by Roger Corman was made in 1993 but never saw the light of day in theaters. Over a decade later, the first major theatrical release of the franchise was released and followed by a sequel ‘The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer’.

Due to negative reviews, the franchise got a reboot releasing this year. This time it is directed by Josh Trank and stars Miles Teller as Richard Reeds/Mr. Fantastic, Kate Mara as Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman, and Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch. According to IMDb, the new film is confirmed to share the same universe as ‘X-Men’ films.

The story revolves around four young scientists who are given superhuman powers via a teleportation experiment that fell apart. These four heroes now must use their newly discovered powers to save our planet from the evil Doctor Doom.

The previous Johnny Storm, Chris Evans, reportedly advised his successor Michael B. Jordan, “Man I can’t give you anything. You’re great, you’re awesome. Just do your thing. And enjoy it. It’s gonna be fun.” Writer Simon Kinberg was quoted by IMDb saying that the upcoming reboot is, “a celebration of all the Fantastic Four comics, the notion of this dysfunctional surrogate family of scientists that come together and this idea that it’s almost more like a science adventure than a superhero film.”

‘The Fantastic Four’ is set for release in theaters on August 7, 2015.
