Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez team up once again for the follow-up to their 2005 smash hit ‘Sin City.’ Based on Miller’s hugely-popular graphic novels, the latest installment ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’, will feature multiple new cast members as well as the return of some golden oldies. Fans of the series have been stuck in limbo for the past nine years but the wait is almost over, as the hotly-anticipated neo-noir action thriller heads to cinemas in 3D later this month.

“There’s something about the way Sin City works that I thought would lend itself very well to 3-D because the images are so stripped down and abstract…you almost can see it better in 3-D. It’ll be really cool,” said Rodriguez in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

The cast of newcomers includes Bond-girl Eva Green, ‘Oldboy’ Josh Brolin and pop icon Lady Gaga. Joseph Gordon-Levitt will also star, landing a role that had originally been offered to Johnny Depp, but which he had declined due to scheduling conflicts. Gordon-Levitt reportedly turned down roles in both ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and ‘Godzilla’ to star in Sin City’s latest installment.

Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson and Mickey Rourke return for the sequel as Jessica Alba reprises her role as bombshell Nancy Callahan, an exotic dancer; however this time around Miller and Rodriguez have some big changes in store for her character. Miller said that in ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’, “She’s out for revenge… she is sick of being treated — as she puts it — ‘as a piece of ass.” Rodriguez added that, “You see a little girl in that first film. By the end of this, she’s the avenging angel.”

According to IMDb, the plot will be about ‘the town’s most hard-boiled citizens [crossing] paths with some of its more reviled inhabitants.’ Parts of the storyline for Gordon-Levitt and Alba’s characters have been written specifically for the film, and were not included in the graphic novels.

The directing duo has already started brainstorming ideas for a third Sin City installment. “Robert and I are already talking about ‘Sin City 3’. So you’d better show up to 2,” Miller said.

The first ‘Sin City’ film grossed over 150 million dollars, and the second is expected to hit cinema screens across Pakistan August 22nd.
