Barcelona’s Lionel Messi is arguably the best footballer in the world… Sure there are those who would argue in defense of Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo or Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery, but there remains a fundamental difference between Messi and the other two – humility… And it is exactly this trait, in spite of which even though Messi didn’t win the Ballon d’Or this year still makes him No. 1 in our hearts.

The Captain of the Argentine national team was recently in the news for ignoring to shake the hand of a young fan while in-conversation with match officials before Argentina’s debut game against Bosnia-Herzegovina. Everybody who watched the video questioned whether football’s ‘Mr. Nice Guy’ intentionally ignored the child, or just didn’t see him.

Now, it appears we finally have our answer as English media report, the four-time Ballon d’Or winner tracked down the young boy and made things right. The FIFA World Cup is the most-watched sporting event in the World, so it can be expected for things to get a little hectic. But going for the ‘big win’, Messi probably wants all the good karma he can get which is why he left no stone unturned in his search for the young fan.

And what happened when he found him? Well, it appears the young boy will have a lot more than just a handshake to hold-on to… The football superstar took the time to seat him down on his lap and take a nice photo – a memento this young boy is sure to hold onto for the rest of his life!
