Reading messages on your skin may sound a bit far-fetched, but not for the French designers who are currently working on developing a bracelet that will project your smartphone’s screen onto your forearm. Move over Google Glass, this gadget is shaping the future we’ve all been waiting for.

The Cicret bracelet aims to turn your forearm into a touch screen! This fashionable accessory promises to “make your skin your new tablet” by housing a pico-projector which displays a fully functioning touch screen on your skin – literally making it touch-skin.

The Cicret bracelet is activated by a twist of the wrist, and is equipped with an embedded memory card, processor, accelerometer, micro USB port, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices. But the crux of the device is an array of proximity sensors, eight to be exact, that monitor your fingers movements across the interface and relay the information back to the processor in the bracelet.

On its webpage, the Cicret team is looking to raise $1 million to get its venture off the ground; split into $700,000 for the hardware development and $300,000 for the smartphone app. Consequently, there is no official release date for device yet. However, PhoneArena.com reported that we may see a working prototype and public unveiling in the coming weeks. The report also claims that the Cicret bracelet will support both iOS and Android.

If their crowd-funding proves fruitful, the Cicret bracelet will be released in 10 colours and two memory sizes: 16 and 32 GB. It is unclear how much the device will cost when released, and whether anyone would actually buy it…
