‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ is an upcoming Bollywood film featuring an all star cast of industry veterans and some of the latest stars. Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma and Rahul Bose are all part of this delightful comedy drama about a dysfunctional family who venture on a cruise.
The film is directed by Zoya Akhtar of ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ and ‘Luck by Chance’ fame. According to IMDb, the original cast included Hritik Roshan, Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and Kareena Kapoor. Kareena Kapoor wanted to work with her cousin Ranbir who left the project and was replaced by Ranveer Singh. Kareena was eventually replaced with Priyanka Chopra. For the role of Ranveer’s character Kabir’s mother, Sri Devi and Madhuri Dixit were considered. However, after they declined, the role went to Shefali Shah.
The film looks to have everything from romance, comedy to drama. The cast is some of the best in the Bollywood industry today. Anil Kapoor has been acting for over 30 years and is a versatile talent. After playing mostly the romantic hero in his films, he takes on a father’s role to Ranveer Singh’s character. Anil Kapoor has also transcended into Hollywood featuring in ‘Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol’ across Tom Cruise. He also played a recurring role in the hit action television series ‘24’.
‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ is an eclectic mix of the old and the new and looks very promising. Prepare to be entertained on June 5, 2015.
