Football superstar David Beckham may have retired from the beautiful game, but don’t take that to mean he has any more free time on his hands. In his second advertisement shot by director and friend Guy Ritchie (famous for ‘Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’, ‘Snatch’, and the recent ‘Sherlock Holmes’ films), Beckham promotes Haig Club, a single-grain scotch whiskey that he produced in partnership with liquor giant Diageo and American Idol creator Simon Fuller.
According to Fast Company, “Diageo has said Beckham actually played a fundamental role in developing the brand (“How about we make the bottle blue?”), and he definitely plays a significant part here in preventing this from being a total mess of a high five to the Rich Kids of Instagram crowd.”
Set to the music of Alt-J’s “Left Hand Free”, the ad shows a group of extremely telegenic people traveling to a Scottish estate to dress up, have a drink, and take a picture together. While the storyline may sound thin, it leaves you free to focus on Ritchie’s cinematography, while Beckham invites viewers to ‘travel the world!’
