2015 was a good year for video games, but 2016 promises to be even better! The New Year will see the return of some of gaming’s most iconic franchises. Of course, the nature of games development means it’s entirely possible some of these games may even be delayed until 2017, but we just can’t seem to contain our excitement at the prospects.
- Dark Souls III
Coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC in April (or at least that’s when it’s expected), the third installment in the Dark Souls series promises to be a whopper. It’s safe to assume we can expect the same brutal action as past games, but also a lot better and faster gameplay.
2. Hitman
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a new Hitman game (not counting the mobile spinoff Hitman Go). 2015 saw the release of the box office blockbuster ‘Hitman: Agent 47’, so it’s only right to follow it up with a new iteration for current-gen consoles. The new Hitman is slated for release March 11th, 2016.
3. Final Fantasy XV
Also coming to PS4 and Xbox One sometime in the New Year is Final Fantasy XV. The game, which has been in development for a while now, is one of 2016’s most highly-awaited series.
4. Doom
2016 will mark the return of one of gaming’s most beloved franchises — Doom. The troubled and severely delayed first-person shooter was first announced back in 2008. Though an exact release date has yet to be announced, games developer id Software has promised this will be their year.
5. Street Fighter V
This is the one game on the list we’re most excited about. Street Fighter V, coming to PS4 and PC promises to be an eclectic mix of old and new. The game will see the return of series favorites Ryu, Chun-Li and Vega, and feature new characters including the franchise’s first Arab combatant, Rashid.
