World renowned architect Zaha Hadid is well-known for testing the limits of deconstructivism. But of her latest projects it is the ‘City of Dreams Hotel Tower’ in Macau that gives the word ‘test’ a new meaning…

Commissioned in 2013 by Melco Crown Entertainment, the 40-storey luxury hotel is currently being constructed in Macau’s premier leisure and entertainment district – the City of Dreams. But let us assure you this hotel is like no other …

The exterior façade has been designed to feature three mammoth-sized holes that allow for you to literally ‘see through’ the building. Draped all over in a sort of mesh web, one could easily mistake the luxury skyscraper for the official residence of Spiderman.

Covering an area of 150,000 square meters the monolithic tower will feature a total of 780 rooms, suites and sky villas, as well as a ‘super lounge’ – though we have yet to find out what that is exactly. In addition, the luxury hotel will boast a casino floor, specialty restaurants, VIP gaming, penthouse villas and a ‘sky pool’.

The Iraqi-British architect has developed a reputation for being a bit of an architectural wizard. Some of her completed projects include the Guangzhou Opera House, Sheikh Zayed Bridge in Abu Dhabi, and the London Aquatics Center. Upcoming projects include the design for the 2022 FIFA World Cup stadium in Qatar, and the Japan National Stadium in Tokyo.

If everything goes according to plan (which for Zaha Hadid it always does), the City of Dreams Hotel Tower Macau is expected to be completed early 2017.
