The Camry is for Toyota, what the S-Class is for Mercedes… While there are those who are of the opinion that the Camry is just an overpriced Corolla, Toyota was armed and ready to refute that claim at the 2014 SEMA Auto Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.
‘Outrageous’, was the term that first came to mind when the Japanese automobile giant unveiled the ‘sleeper’ Camry. What you see (above) is no overpriced Corolla… It’s an example of an automotive Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
Powered by a monstrous 5.7-liter supercharged V8 engine from the Toyota Tundra, that produces a staggering 850 HP, the ‘sleeper’ Camry was one of the most fascinating debuts at SEMA 2014.
“This is the most extreme build we’ve ever unveiled at SEMA,” said Toyota Motorsports Chief Steve Appelbaum. “The transformation from seemingly stock Camry to full-blown racecar just shocks the senses.”
This beast from the East features a full tube-frame chassis and a lift-able body that shows off its racecar-inspired build. Imagine pulling up at a traffic signal in Karachi next to some ‘show-da’ in an RX-8, and just blowing him away with this unassuming family sedan.
This ‘low-profile’ four-door family sedan boasts a quarter-mile time of just 9.8 seconds. That makes it faster than the Bugatti Veyron and Lamborghini Aventador…
Still think of it as an over-priced Corolla?
