As was to be expected Toyota Indus Motor Company (IMC) has announced a colossal price hike, with immediate effect, on all locally assembled vehicles. This is IMC’s first price hike of 2022, and its biggest one yet.
The entire automotive sector has come under immense pressure due to the delayed approval of the letter of credit for the import of CKD kits. Toyota isn’t the first local assembler to announce a price hike and likely won’t be the last. Due to global logistics challenges, spiralling freight costs, and rupee depreciation, price hikes are expected to continue throughout the year.
