Subaru made a weighty announcement at the Los Angeles Motor Show recently, when it introduced its latest ‘Impreza Sedan’ Concept.

The Impreza Sedan Concept sees only aesthetic changes to the design with no changes to the car’s performance whatsoever. Nevertheless, you can’t deny it’s a smart ticket to 2020 for the Japanese automaker.

Subaru flaunted a five-door hatchback compact sedan with an updated hexagonal grille and distinctive C-shaped headlights and taillights. This time to create an even sportier look, the Impreza was rolled out on 19-inch alloys. A 1.8 or 2.0-litre turboboxer engine mated to a conventional six-speed manual gearbox is also rumored to be part of the design, not to mention Subaru’s signature symmetrical all-wheel drive.

The Impreza has proven to be an important vehicle for the company over the years. Subaru sold upwards of 58,000 Imprezas in the last year alone, not counting the additional 25,000 Impreza WRX high-performance rally cars.
