If you drive around the streets of Karachi or any other city in Pakistan, you must have noticed that lately there have been a lot of vehicles coming in from Japan — refurbished and freshly imported. Since the discontinuation of the Daihatsu Cuore, Indus Motors has had a very tough time bringing in a car for the masses, which in turn have been replaced by foreign imports.
One of our all-round all time favourite cars has to be the Vitz by Toyota. This year will see the return of the popular hatchback which is back with a leaner, sportier and meaner look. It comes out with a price of 15 lacs, spitting a surprising 106 horsepower (quite quick for a hatchback) with a 1.5 litre, four-cylinder engine powered by either a 5-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. Toyota has officially categorized the new Vitz as the new Toyota Hatchback and that tells us that Toyota has their eyes set on competing with the likes of Ford Focus, Suzuki Swift, and the Honda Fit.
This model is said to be called the Yaris, as it is called in the rest of the world (we’ll still call it Vitz because we’re Pakistanis), with an oversized blacked-out grille, integrated fog lamps, 16 inch machine-finish alloy rims and a range of new features. Vitz still has all the same functions and features except in the new 2015 model there are quite a few mods added for the consumers comfort, safety and well, to be able to drive on the roads of Karachi!
New Features Include:
1. Nine air-bags (That’s a lot of air-bags)
2. Star Safety System
3. Driver and front passenger Whiplash-injury-lessening seats (Yes, were still talking about Vitz)
4. Tire Pressure Monitor System
5. Child safety restraints(children can be a pain in the ass)
The all new 2015 Toyota Vitz is already on the roads of Karachi. Consumers can either order through an official importer of Japanese vehicles in the city, or through Indus Motors who has made the car readily available in lots of catchy colours.
