The Prado is a car that needs no introduction… Dubbed the ‘junior’ Land Cruiser, it is today among the bestselling automobiles in Pakistan! But the 2015 edition of Toyota’s Land Cruiser Prado promises to be a far cry from its predecessor. The World’s number 1 carmaker takes a direct hit at the 2015 Mitsubishi Pajero and the 2015 Nissan Patrol — as though it’s their way of saying “We’re done playing games with you people!”
The choices: Toyota will launch two editions of the 2015 Land Cruiser Prado. The introductory version will be powered by a 2.7-liter, V4 engine producing a modest 160 hp and boasting a top speed of 170 km/h. We shall refer to this as the ‘budget-friendly’ option. It’s reasonably-priced (for a Land Cruiser) and because it’s powered by a 2.7-liter engine is (somewhat) conservative on petrol.
The ‘Deluxe’ version is Toyota’s mean machine. Powered by a 4.0-liter V6 engine producing 270 hp, it boasts a top speed of 200 km/h and a 0-100 km/h time of just 9.0 seconds. And as you can see (above) it is a BEAST!
The newly-redesigned model will feature chunkier headlights, a taller body, a narrower frame and even MORE luxury. The car will feature Vehicle Stability Control AND Traction Control, as well as a Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System – that’s Toyota talk for “a smooth off-road drive”. Customizable options will include: leather upholstery, push-start, rear-view camera, wooden trim, chrome rims, on-board navigation and heated seats (to begin with).
For lucky shoppers in Dubai the 2015 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado will cost between $36,000 for the ‘budget-friendly’ model and $50,000 for the ‘Deluxe’. For Pakistani consumers (destined for destruction thanks to the ludicrous import duty levied on all vehicles) you don’t even wanna know…
