$100,000 which is a little bit over one crore Pakistani Rupees is the price of a USED, yes used, Toyota Grand Cruiser 2014/2015 (a brand new one would end up costing you about $250,000). Well, that’s quite a lot of money for any one of us and we at The Karachiite gave this quite a lot of thought if were getting the product worth our money or not. Well, a little bit of research showed us what other cars we could buy in the same price range as the Grand Cruiser and our whole perspective kind of changed.
It turns out there are some relatively inexpensive supercars out there at the same price and believe me we were just as surprised as you are about to be! BEHOLD…
Porsche 911 Carrera S
The 911 Carrera S is by far one of the most successful models produced by Porsche which spits out 400 bhp at 7,400 rpm. 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 304 km/h. (Oh YEAH…)
2013 SRT Viper
This is a beast of a machine, American-built and one of the most successful domestic sports cars in their 50-year history. The SRT packs a jaw dropping 640 bhp coming out of a monster 8.4-litre V-10, 0 to 60 in just 3.7 seconds. Still thinking about that Grand Cruiser?
2014 Nissan GTR
One of my personal favorites, the Nissan GTR looks damn good in terms of looks, price, speed, power and well as a whole. Fitted with a twin-turbo V6 that squeezes out 545 bhp taking 3.1 seconds to reach 60 mph from a stationary position. According to Top Gear the GTR is the most technologically-advanced supercar in the market.
2013 Ford Shelby GT500
Shelby GT has always been a beast in the supercar world. The sound it produces can make a baby cry and scare the s*it out of old people. The GT with the same old philosophy of ‘Live, rear axle and all’ accommodates a 5.8 litre, V8 that has been supercharged to produce 662 bhp taking the Shelby from 0-60 mph in just 3.5 seconds.
Corvette Z06
The track orientated, popular two-door coupe which is every American kids dream is the best eye candy in the motoring world. The Z06 is made to deliver competitive lap times and produces 505 bhp from a 7.0 litre V8 engine (that’s a huge engine) with 0-60 mph in less than 4 seconds.
Mercedes C63 AMG
Everyone loves Mercedes, specially the AMGs and the double digit C’s and S’s not just because of how good they look or how good you look sitting in one, but mainly because of the monster of a machine it is. The C63 cracks out 451 bhp from a 6.2 litre V8 that takes the car from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds.
Subaru WRX STI
Any motoring enthusiast would know what a Subaru WRX is for… well, the whole sedan is based on rally car driving. Not specifically an eye candy sort of car but believe me when I tell you, it’s really quick. The WRX produces 305 ponies with 0 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds.
Cadillac CTS-V Coupe
THE CADDY! The Cadillac CTS is by far the most BLING vehicle you could own living with your family. This car looks like something out of the future and I promise you, once you are in it you feel like you are in the future. The beauty is fitted with a monster 6.2 litre V8 which is SUPERCHARGED (YEAH) that produces a ground shaking 556 bhp with a 0 to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds. Not bad for a caddy!
2013 BMW M3
We all love a good beemer, the M3 is one of the best ones out yet in the M-series. The affordable high revving mean machine is fitted with a 4.0 litre V8 which gets the car from still to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds.
2014 Cayman S
The Cayman S is Porsche’s way of saying ‘look, we can make an entry-level racing car that can really tear shit up’. Well, it really can. The Cayman S is the most compelling coupes in the racing game. The car is fitted with a 3.4 litre six cylinder engine producing 325 bhp. The lightweight, rear-wheel-drive and the aerodynamics of the car can take you to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds.
So, still thinking about buying that Toyota? This is a compiled list of cars that we at The Karachiite made for the cars you could buy in a price of a Grand Cruiser and potentially still save money for gas and some rolls and food. Seriously though, isn’t this totally bonkers?
