There’s an old saying, “God gives talent. But work transforms talent into genius.” This couldn’t prove truer than in the case of Sacha Goldberger, an incredibly gifted French photographer whose latest body of work is nothing short of pure genius!

Dubbed ‘The Best Photographer in the Neighborhood’ by his mother Gaby, Sacha’s exhibition titled ‘Super-Flamands’ (or Super Flemish), explores how superheroes would’ve looked if they were born in the 16th Century and were the subjects of classical Flemish paintings.

The superstar photographer has a knack for the surreal, even going so far as to feature his 91-year-old grandmother as the subject of many of his glamour shoots. According to the Independent, more than 110 people participated in the project, including five costume designers, seven make-up artists, five hairdressers and 60 actors.

Batman, Robin, Spiderman, Wolverine, Iron Man and the Hulk are but a few of the superheroes that make their Flemish debut. Super-villains include Catwoman, Darth Vader, Darth Maul and everyone’s favorite the Joker.

According to GeekGirls, “The collection demonstrates the use of 17 century techniques counterpointing light and shadow to illustrate nobility and fragility of the super powerful of all times. It also invites you to celebrate the heroes of your childhood. These characters have become icons to reveal their humanity: tired of having to save the world without respite, promised to a destiny of endless immortality, forever trapped in their character.”
