As if his CV wasn’t extraordinary enough with five IIFA awards, four Filmfare awards, three Zee Cine awards and numerous other honors to his name, it now appears Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor will be adding yet another accolade to his already-impressive profile.
The ‘RockStar’ has teamed-up with Saavn, India’s version of Spotify, and will be coming on-board as the company’s Creative Collaborator. According to The Times of India, Kapoor will be offering his invaluable inputs on consumer marketing, production, business development and content.
Of course, being one of Hindi cinema’s leading actors his new role will also see him make a number of television appearances, as well as feature in some commercials and on numerous billboards.
Kapoor was reportedly heavily involved in one of the company’s premier ad campaigns penned by ‘Bombay Velvet’ screenwriter Vasan Bala. The new partnership is the outcome of a two-year-old meeting between Kapoor and Saavn’s New York-based founders: Executive Chairman Paramdeep Singh, CEO Rishi Malhotra and President Vinodh Bhat.
After several meetings shuttling back-and-forth between New York and Mumbai, the partnership was just very recently finalized. Singh was quoted in The Times of India saying, “Everyone involved in this is truly passionate about the product, but there’s also a very human connection here, as well. Our collaboration with Ranbir represents an evolution in the way technology companies and artists work together in India”.
Saavn is currently at the center of a $12.5 billion digital transition of Indian entertainment that spans 127 different countries and generates revenue from advertising, sponsorships, rental/download transactions, and subscriptions. Streaming has now become the medium of choice, for tech-savvy music enthusiasts who want their music both instantly, and on the go!
