This year will see Tampa Bay, Florida play host to the prestigious International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards. The 15th anniversary of the awards spectacular, being organized by Wizcraft International Entertainment, hopes to bring together celebrities from both Bollywood and Hollywood, all under one roof to honor the best in Indian cinema.

Bollywood bigwigs expected to attend include: Shatrughan Sinha and his daughter Sonakshi, Nawab sahib Saif Ali Khan and his begum Kareena Kapoor, veteran actress Madhuri Dixit, Pop star Priyanka Chopra, and our all-time favorite Farhan Akhtar.

Saturday the 26th of April, will reportedly see Hollywood superstars John Travolta, Kevin Spacey and action director Ang Lee grace the red carpet alongside their Bollywood contemporaries. This is the first time that the IIFA awards are being hosted in the US.

The mega-event will be held at the Raymond James Stadium where ‘R… Rajkumar’ Shahid Kapoor and ‘The Fakir of Venice’ Farhan Akhtar are scheduled to host. Fans hoping to attend the exclusive affair can expect to fork out anywhere between a $75 and $3,000-a-head.

Media reports also reveal that seasoned talent Shatrughan Sinha will be bestowed with a Lifetime Achievement Award for outstanding contribution to Indian cinema. His films ‘Kalicharan’, ‘Blackmail’, ‘Dostana’ and ‘Shaan’ have all gone on to become Bollywood classics.

This year’s nominations for best film include: Aditya Chopra’s ‘Dhoom 3’, Karan Johar’s ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Dewaani’, Rakesh Roshan’s ‘Krrish 3’ and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela’.

Another film touted for great success is Reliance Entertainment’s ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’. The biopic, based on the life of retired athlete Milkha Singh, is reportedly a frontrunner with as many as ten nominations.
