Forget Messi, Ronaldo and Robben… If you were watching the FIFA Ballon d’Or awards last night, chances are that you, like the rest of us were bedazzled by the beauty of the ‘real’ talent on stage. While the ‘whose who’ of football stars were in attendance, most eyes had to be on the stunningly beautiful hostess Kate Abdo! She carried the ceremony with grace and poise, and on occasion even shared a few laughs with nominees Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. While the Portuguese sensation took home the prestigious title of Ballon d’Or 2014, Abdo left the stage the star of the show.
According to the Mirror, the 33-year-old anchor for Sky Sports is a lot more than just a pretty face… Fluent in four languages including Spanish, French, German and her native English, the Manchester-born beauty holds a BA in European Languages from the University of Salford. She has lived in Paris and Malaga, and according to her LinkedIn profile is currently based in Munich, Germany.
Dressed in gold, Abdo was the glittering prize of the evening. Her knowledge of the beautiful game comes from her vast experience as a sports journalist and presenter. According to the Daily Mail, prior to Sky Sports, Abdo worked with DW-TV, CNN World Sport and Sky Deutschland. She also hosted the Coppa Italia (Italian Cup) broadcast on Sky Sports.
Last night, Abdo had the honor of sharing the stage with football luminaries such as FIFA President Sepp Blatter, French legend Thierry Henry, Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, Germany’s World Cup-winning manager Joachim Low and Dutch winger Arjen Robben. Social media went into overdrive when tweets from football fans around the world hailed Abdo as the highlight of the show.
For most of us, she was the Ballon d’Or, and we were just honored to marvel at her beauty.
