Manchester United is a football club with the biggest fan base in the world, which means — High Expectations! Since the departure of the iconic Sir Alex Ferguson, United are lacking in a number of things but most notably, silverware.

Louis Van Gaal’s red army seems to be doing a decent job at the moment in trying to bring back the glory days. However, United are still inundated with problems which require immediate attention. The two bigs ones include:

Rooney’s Downfall
One problem which is quite evident seems to be the form of Captain Wayne Rooney. The 30-year-old is one of United’s all-time greats, but nowadays, seems to be lacking that killer instinct.

Rooney is a true team player, someone who can play at any position for the sake of his club. In the last 12 months, he has played in 4 different positions, which goes to show the versatile nature of his game. The problem is, where he is best suited. Sir Alex Ferguson wanted Rooney to play the holding midfield position as that was where he saw him most shine. But it appears Louis Van Gaal has other plans…

Nowadays, good performances from Rooney are few and far between. With Anthony Martial shifted down the left flank to accommodate him in the team, the red devils are finding it hard to break the deadlock. It’s about time Rooney finds the magic and gets back to his old tricks.

Not Enthusiastic To Shoot
Despite United’s current league position and number of goals scored this season, statistics show that United players are clearly reluctant to shoot. It’s that one extra pass which kills the momentum of an attack. United have tried their luck on goal just 74 times in ten league games, which is the joint third-worst in the entire league. With 41 shots on target, Van Gaal needs to encourage his boys to be a little bit more brave and strike fear in the hearts of their opponents.
