The Greenshirts delivered a resounding defeat to the England cricket team in Sharjah, winding up the series 2-0 in our favour.
This was day five of the third and final test of the series and the Pakistani spinners had a field day showing their supremacy over the slow pitch that confounded their opponents.
England started the day resuming their batting at 46-2 in pursuit of a target of 284. The side appeared in trouble right at the outset, losing four precious wickets for only 11 runs in the first hour. Alistair Cook was the only batsman who stood his ground at the crease, making an impressive 63 under obvious pressure from the Pakistani bowlers. His was the ninth England wicket to fall, and the story pretty much ended there, his side soon all bowled out for 156.
A total 17 wickets in this match were taken by spinners. Comeback kid Yasir Shah took 4-44, while Shoaib Malik bowled 3-26, both men steering their team to a well-deserved victory.
England has lost 7 out of the last 9 matches it has played against Pakistan, going without a series win for the past three years. With this defeat, it slipped in world rankings from 3rd place to 6th. Pakistan on the other hand, has now climbed up to the No. 2 position. For fans eagerly waiting to welcome them back home, however, they are the superstars of the moment.
