On Tuesday, Lionel Messi took pride of place in the Barcelona lineup after an absence due to injury. The ace player had been out of action since late September but in the match against AS Roma, he was back to peak form.

The 6-1 victory for the Champion’s League title holders in the Nou Camp match sealed the side’s top spot in Group E.

Messi’s first goal was the result of a perfectly synchronized movement involving all outfield players and nearly 30 passes. All eyes were on the No. 10 jersey as spectators saw the Argentinian wizard weave his magic for the full 90 minutes. His starring role was fully supported by Luis Suarez who also scored two goals for Barca. Suarez and Brazilian prodigy Neymar have bravely soldiered on for their side in Messi’s absence. Gerald Pique, after a set-up by Messi, and Adriano, after a late penalty from Neymar was saved, added the other two goals that took the side’s tally to six.

After the match, Suarez was lavish in his praise for his teammate, saying ‘Messi is the best and I’m very happy for him’.
