French striker Anthony Martial, scoring an injury time goal in the match against Everton at Wembley on Saturday, gave Manchester United a last-minute victory and a place in the FA Cup final – something that hasn’t happened in the last nine years.

The dramatic 2-1 semi-final win set off wild cheers among spectators, with ecstatic Man Utd fans swamping the team players at the sidelines. United manager Louis Van Gaal called the outcome “just fantastic”.

Everton goalkeeper Joel Robles looked on helplessly as Martial struck a loose ball from 25 yards away, just as full time approached. A cutback from Martial was earlier slotted away in the first half of the game by Marouane Fellaini, giving the Red Devils an early edge.

Chris Smalling scored the equalizer for Everton, but that remained the only goal the team could manage, missing countless chances during the game, and eventually leading to their defeat.

Manchester United also missed many opportunities, but luck was on their side and they rode it to sail into the tournament final. They’ll now be facing Crystal Palace to decide who is this year’s FA Cup champion.
