In the latest twist to take the sports world by storm, former Brazilian striker Ronaldo Fenomino has challenged Tennis World No. 2 Rafael Nadal to a poker showdown.

Scheduled to be held in London on November 6th, two of the world’s biggest sports stars will face-off against each other in a charity challenge dubbed ‘PokerStars ’. According to The Daily Mail, the former Real Madrid striker recently issued a challenge to the Spanish Toro that the 14-time Grand Slam champion graciously accepted. Last year, Ronaldo faced Nadal at the European Poker Tour Charity Challenge that raised £79,000.

“It was my first live poker tournament when I last played against Ronaldo and one year later I’m more confident with my skill level. I really enjoy playing poker and the challenge of learning as quickly as possible, so I can’t wait to get back into training on my game,” Nadal was quoted saying.

With nearly 50 million registered players at the start of 2012, PokerStars is the largest online poker card room in the world. “The last time we played together Rafa won and it was a lot of fun. This time it will be different, though, because I have been improving on my poker strategy and will be more prepared,” said Ronaldo.

The live one-on-one poker clash is one of the most hotly-anticipated card games of the year, with people placing side bets on who will reign supreme. And while it’s all for a good cause, knowing the competitive nature of these two sporting legends, this will definitely be a showdown to remember.
