LA Lakers point man Kobe Bryant has made his presence felt at this year’s World Cup in Brazil. The NBA superstar was reportedly in awe over the goalkeeping skills of Mexican showstopper Guillermo Ochoa, who extended his clean sheet against tournament favorites Brazil.

Bryant was apparently expecting to see prolific forward Neymar hammer the Mexican defense with goals, but instead got a lesson in goalkeeping 101 from his VIP seat at the Castelao de Fortaleza. He used popular micro-blogging site Twitter to share his admiration for the Mexican ‘brick wall’ writing: ‘OCHOA!! Incredible #mexico #worldcup’

The American all-star reportedly grew up in Italy between the ages of six to 14, and was an avid fan of football. He calls football his ‘favorite sport’ and said he would play it on a daily basis. Surprisingly however, he never took it up professionally, instead opting for a high-profile career in basketball. Outside the World Cup, he is a huge fan of Barclays Premier League giants Liverpool and La Liga powerhouse Barcelona. Bryant also appeared alongside Lionel Messi in a commercial for Turkish Airlines.

Bryant had not made it known which team he was supporting but has come to Brazil to watch the best teams compete and maybe catch a little samba fun. According to reports in the Daily Mail, he feels hosts Brazil and Germany are two teams to watch in the tournament and is hoping to see a final between rivals Brazil and Argentina.

It would be a dream final to watch two of the World’s best forwards, Neymar and Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi face-off against each other… But after Suarez’s magnificent performance last night against England, it would be a mistake to discount anyone at this point.
