For the third consecutive year, Air New Zealand has been rated as the world’s best airline. AirRatings.com lauded the airline for its great  ‘ in-flight innovations, operational safety record and environmental leadership’ in the aviation industry.

Air New Zealand tripled the honours list by also securing the Best Premium Economy and Best Economy Class awards. Its introduction of passenger-friendly features, like the ‘Skycouch’, a row of three economy seats with footrests that lift up to create a cosy, flexible space for couples or young families, won it high praise from travellers.

Close competitor Qantas, coming in at second place, picked up the Best Lounges, Best Catering and Best Domestic Service awards. The airline has managed to win customers’ hearts through their tummies, doubling the size of economy meals and offering four choices of main courses.

Etihad walked away with the prize for Best Luxury Travel and Best First Class. Cathay Pacific came in at fourth place, and Singapore Airlines took the Best Business Class and Best In-Flight Entertainment citation. Passengers aboard its aircraft are offered 1000 on-demand entertainment options.

The top five airlines are striving to create a better and more pleasant travelling experience for their customers year after year, and as far as they’re concerned ‘ the sky’s the limit’ in raising efficiency standards.
