Avocados are highly nutritious fruits that provide a variety of health benefits. They contain healthy fats which reduce levels of ‘bad cholesterol’ in your blood, along with a large amount of protein, dietary fiber and Vitamins C, B6, B9, B5 and E2. Avocadoes also help regulate BMI and body weight owing to their metabolic and nutritious properties. Due to its rich, creamy texture, it is often used as a spread in sandwiches and wraps, and is also used as a main ingredient in the Mexican ‘Guacamole’ dip.

This famous and delicious dish can be whipped up simply, with basic ingredients at home and can be eaten with seasoned potato wedges or nachos. Here’s a quick recipe to help you make your very own dip for all occasions:

Ingredients:
2 avocadoes
1 medium sized tomato
2 tablespoons of lemon juice
2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves and stalks
¼ cup red onion chopped
1 red or green chili, finely chopped
A dash of pepper

Directions:
1)Halve the avocados and remove the stone. Scoop the flesh out and tip into a bowl.
2)Use a whisk to roughly mash the avocados until it is mashed and chunky. Then add in the chopped tomato, red onion and the rest of the ingredients, except the coriander. If serving immediately, add the coriander leaves and stalks and mix everything together. However, if you are not serving it immediately, add a cling and refrigerate it, adding the coriander when serving.
3)Serve with Tortilla chips, Nachos or Potato wedges.
