Photos were recently released online showing what looked like the Batmobile for the hotly-anticipated ‘Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice’ film. Director Zack Snyder responded to the leaks by taking to popular micro-blogging site Twitter, and posting an official photograph of his badass ride.
The official image was definitely sharper and more detailed, and in all honesty, the car looks like a cross between the ‘90s Batmobile and Christopher Nolan’s Tumbler, a sleek titanium-covered tank. This is a clear example of just how much Snyder cares about fans of all the films, as the Batmobile was without a doubt one of the best parts (even in the lackluster ‘Batman and Robin’).
Ben Affleck will be the lucky actor to get behind the wheel as the caped crusader, cruising around town alongside Henry Cavill’s Superman. Of all the Batmobiles to feature on screen, nothing comes close to the mean machine that Michael Keaton drove in Tim Burton’s ‘Batman’ and ‘Batman Returns’. Of course, some fans may dispute that saying the Tumbler from ‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy was better. No doubt the latest incarnation will have some big shoes to fill.
The Batmobile will not be the only star of the film. It will be joined by the talents of Jesse Eisenberg, Ray Fisher, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons, Jason Momoa and Holly Hunter.
There are huge expectations for the sequel to last year’s blockbuster ‘Man of Steel’ and Snyder will need to make sure he not only meets them, but exceeds them. So far his casting choices have been mostly well-received, apart from maybe the decision to cast Ben Affleck as the Dark Knight. Fans are hoping the eagerly-awaited sequel lays the foundation for a ‘Justice League’ film to rival Marvel’s ‘Avengers’.
Will the new Batmobile meow or roar when ‘Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice’ hits theaters? We’ll find out March 2016.
