After ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ marked a blockbuster return of our favorite mutants on the big screen, director Bryan Singer returns to behind the camera for the sequel ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’. Just as Zack Snyder has taken to social media to provide teasers for the ‘Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice’ film, Singer has taken to Instagram to give fans a sneak peek into the new ‘X-Men’ film.

What could be more exciting than a photo of the actual script? Though it’s just a small teaser, fans will nevertheless get excited about. The 48-year-old veteran director of the ill-fated yet successful ‘Superman Returns’ was responsible for the first two ‘X-Men’ films that became box-office smashes. ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ grossed over $700 million worldwide. The talented director has proven his worth with critically acclaimed hits like ‘Valkyrie’ and the Oscar-winning crime thriller ‘The Usual Suspects’.

According to Digital Spy, the script mentions the Four Horsemen and a clash by the river, Nile. The Horsemen were shown in the closing credits of the last film, and may possibly have a major role in ‘Apocalypse’.

Digital Spy goes on to report that the film will take place in 1983 – ten years after the story line in ‘Days of Future Past’. The cast will once again feature the star-studded talents of James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult. According to writer-producer Simon Kinberg, there will be some old favorites returning. Whether Patrick Stewart or Hugh Jackman will make an appearance has yet to be confirmed (but an X-Men without the Wolverine?? C’mon…).

The film is themed around the mutant villain Apocalypse, born 5000 years ago in Akkaba with the mutant X-gene; possibly making him the first human on Earth to possess this trait. As a consequence, he has gray skin and blue lips which resulted in his desertion by his tribe as an infant. He is saved by ‘Baal of the Sandstormers’ who immediately realized the baby’s potential based on its survival instincts. Baal christens him as ‘En Sabah Nur’ or ‘The First One.’
