Back in the 80s and 90s, Sylvester Stallone was one of the biggest action stars in Hollywood. Since his first big break in ‘Rocky’, he has continued to star in high-octane blockbusters proving time and again that action speaks louder than words!

Among his many box-office smashes was the 1993 thriller ‘Cliffhanger’. The film, co-written by Stallone, became so popular it even garnered a parody in ‘Ace Venture 2: When Nature Calls’ starring funnyman Jim Carrey. It is also remembered by fans for its nerve-wracking sequences where Stallone, as Gabriel ‘Gabe’ Walker has to contend with terrorists and protect his friends across some of the world’s most dangerous terrain.

If reports are to be believed, we may have some good news for ‘Cliffhanger’ fans. According to The Verge, the highly-acclaimed action blockbuster could garner a remake. The website reports that the film is expected to be ‘reimagined’ and that a screenwriter has reportedly already been commissioned by French production house StudioCanal, to bring the story back.

Though nothing has yet been confirmed, it would be interesting to see Stallone’s involvement with the project. He may no longer be the young tough hero of yesterday, but that hasn’t stopped him for craving for more guns, guts and glory. He recently starred with an ensemble cast of fellow action icons including Dolph Lundgren, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis and Jean-Claude Van Damme in the testosterone-fueled ‘Expendables’. The third film in the mega-hit franchise is expected to hit theaters sometime later this year.

With film remakes like ‘Robocop’ and ‘Total Recall’ releasing to mixed reviews one thing is for sure. ‘Cliffhanger’ would need something truly special to delight a new generation of audiences.
