2016 promises to be a great year for Hollywood releases. Here’s our top five most-awaited releases for January:

The Hateful Eight
Visionary director Quentin Tarantino’s American western kicks off the New Year in spectacular style. Featuring an all-star cast including Kurt Russell, Samuel L. Jackson and Channing Tatum, Tarantino’s eighth film will reportedly take place around the same universe as ‘Django Unchained’, even though it is not a sequel.

The Revenant
One of the most widely-hyped films on social media Alejandro Gonzalez Innaritu’s ‘The Revenant’, is already tipped to win Leo that elusive golden statue. DiCaprio was originally approached to star in ‘Steve Jobs’, but dropped out to do this film instead. The ‘Inception’ star who is a vegetarian, was so in character he ate real raw meat in a scene depicting his character surviving off a wild bison’s liver.

Ride Along 2
The sequel to the 2014 action comedy blockbuster finally makes its way to the big screen in 2016. ‘Ride Along’ was such a surprise hit at the box office that the studio green-lit a sequel almost immediately. ‘Ride Along 2’ sees Ice Cube and Kevin Hart reprise their roles as soon-to-be brothers-in-law. Original director Tim Story also returns for the sequel.

Release date: 15th January, 2016

Dirty Grandpa
This is a film that could go either way — it could either turn out to be a cult classic like ‘Bridesmaids’ or ‘The Hangover’, or it could fall closer in line with something like ‘Transporter 3’. ‘Dirty Grandpa’ sees a first-time collaboration between old-school mafioso Robert DeNiro and Zac Efron. The film which is rater ‘R’ for crude sexual content, graphic nudity, and drug use, is brought to us by the same guy that brought us ‘Bruno.’

Kung Fu Panda 3
Get ready for more awesomeness in what has to be the most highly-awaited animated feature of 2016. Jack Black reprises his role as the legendary Kung Fu Panda ‘Po’ alongside the Furious Five: Angelina Jolie, Seth Rogen, David Cross, Lucy Liu, and Dustin Hoffman. When the supernatural villain Kai begins to sweep across China defeating all the kung fu masters, Po must do the impossible—learn to train a village full of his fun-loving, clumsy brethren to become the ultimate band of Kung Fu Pandas!
