After reportedly receiving the green light back in February of this year, Fox co-Chairman Stacey Snider has announced that ‘Deadpool 2’ is officially a ‘go’.
The dynamic script-writing duo behind the original will return to helm the sequel, except this time, with a much larger budget. Made on a shoestring budget of just under $60 million, the first ‘Deadpool‘ movie grossed more than $757 million worldwide — making it the highest grossing R-rated film ever.
The superhero franchise also helped reinvigorate lead actor Ryan Reynolds career. His star was at an all time low diminished by flops like ‘Green Lantern’ and ‘RIPD’. The Merc with a Mouth brought him back!
For director Tim Miller, who made his feature film debut with the first movie, the opportunity to once again return to the director’s chair is one he’s sure to take seriously. An animator and visual effects specialist, the ‘Deadpool’ franchise is the perfect platform for him to establish himself among the Hollywood ‘elite’, joining the likes of Jon Favreau, Zack Snyder, Christopher Nolan and Joss Whedon.
Story details to follow, so stay tuned.
