Pierce Brosnan was playing action-hero long before his turn as the suave, sophisticated super-spy James Bond. In the 80’s Brosnan rose to prominence in the hit television show ‘Remington Steele’.
Now, more than a decade after his last Bond-film ‘Die Another Day’, Brosnan returns to the spy genre in the hotly-anticipated crime thriller ‘The November Man’. Starring opposite Bond girl Olga Kurylenko, ‘The November Man’ tells the story of Agent Devereaux, an ex-CIA operative brought back in on a very personal mission against his former pupil in a deadly game involving high level CIA officials and the Russian President-elect.
‘The November Man’ sees Brosnan reunite with ‘Dante’s Peak’ director Roger Donaldson, the Australian talent behind blockbuster hits ‘Cocktail’, ‘Species’ and ‘The Recruit’. According to Mashable, Donaldson used drones extensively during filming, which may very well be a glimpse into the future of filmmaking.
Brosnan most-recently appeared in the British dark comedy ‘A Long Way Down’, starring alongside former Bond girl Rosamund Pike, Toni Collette and ‘Need for Speed’s Aaron Paul and Imogen Poots. The film received mostly negative reviews though Brosnan’s performance was lauded.
If Brosnan’s performance in ‘The November Man’ is able to show he’s still got the brawn and stamina of a modern-day action hero, then rumors suggest the 61-year-old may appear in ‘The Expendables 4’, the latest installment in Sylvester Stallone’s super-successful action franchise.
As for the charm, we know he’s got that in spades… ‘The November Man’ hits theaters August 27th, 2014.
