Office lunch breaks can be boring if you don’t have company or are stuck in front of your computer. Fortunately there are several ways to rid of your boredom thanks to the infinite world of online games. Two months into a New Year we give you five of the best online games for when you’re bored at the office.
1. Stick Cricket
Stick Cricket by Stick Sports brings the simplicity of batting to your keyboard. If you are bored at office or want to relax on your lunch break, this game will do the needful. It offers a handful of options from World T2, All Star Slog and more. All you have to do is score runs and keep your wickets. It is great fun and very addictive. Just be careful that you don’t get distracted enough to not get back to work!
2. DotA 2
DotA (Defense of the Ancients) 2 is one of the most popular online multiplayer games in the world. It is also now a competitive e-sport where players globally not just play for pride but for cash rewards. It is also a fun office game if you have the hardware to support it. It is free to play from Steam and is ridiculously addictive. One word of caution- you might be continuing your adventures at home and your significant other may not be too happy.
3. Candy Crush Saga
It is an exciting mobile game and perhaps one of the most addictive games ever released. Like Stick Cricket, it is fairly easy to play which is why people of all ages are addicted to it. Fortunately, no side effects except that it could take a lot of time out of your day if you do not put it down. Since it works as a freemium game, it is built on microtransactions. The times you have to start shelling out real cash to progress further is when you know it is time to quit!
4. Yahoo Snooker/ Billiard Blitz 2
Billiard Blitz 2 is a fairly simple game that teaches you the basics of snooker and allows you to progress from beginner to advanced level. It will be easier for those who play the real game, but the learning curve is not steep for rookies. It is a great lunch time game and potentially addictive. At least it will keep you coming back for more on your next break at work.
5. Counter Strike
Like DotA 2, this is another exciting LAN game that has players all over the world hooked after work or during longer lunch breaks. It is a simple first person shooter with two teams- counter terrorists and terrorists. Players get divided in groups and try to out play each other. Different maps can be used and downloaded. It does require a bit of skill and hand-eye coordination and the learning curve varies for each player. Regardless, once you get the hang of it, you will be staying overtime at office more often trying to outsmart your coworkers!
