What if your bike was so easy to park it would only take a second? Would you ride more often? If the answer’s yes, you’re not alone. There are literally thousands of people who feel the same way and for the first time ever, there may be something you can do about it…
The Gi FlyBike winded up its $75,000 crowd-funding goal on Kickstarter in less than five hours. Dubbed ‘the first ever electric bicycle, that folds in one second’ it’s made using aircraft-grade aluminum and fitted with run-flat tires. The FlyBike’s first iteration was introduced on Kickstarter in 2014, but due to a shortage in funding, designers were forced back to the drawing board.
The latest iteration can be ridden for up to 40 miles on a single charge, and being a ‘smartbike’ can sync wirelessly with iOS and Android. It also features an integrated bike lock and automatic safety-smart front and rear lights.
Imagine: you get out of your office lift with your folded FlyBike; you unfold it in one second, choose your route, and start cycling towards your destination; you don’t want to arrive sweaty so you increase the level of electric assistance; the sun begins to set so you turn on your smart lights; you’ve arrived cool, calm and collected, and with a fully-charged phone.
