In what is perhaps an unsurprising turn of events, Manchester United have reportedly sacked incumbent manager David Moyes. Rumors and reports have been circulating in the social media sphere for a while, particularly after United’s loss to Moyes’ former club Everton at Goodison Park this past weekend.

Sections of fans have for quite some time now been calling on United owners, the Glazers family, to replace Moyes. Just a year ago, Manchester United were on their way to their 13th Barclays Premier League title under long-time Manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ferguson had personally appointed Moyes to be his successor and in an emotional farewell asked fans to support him. Moyes, dubbed as ‘The Chosen One’ by the media was reportedly given the news this morning as he arrived at the Carrington training ground.

Some of Moyes’ failures include losing six games at Old Trafford and being eliminated from the FA Cup and Capital One Cup by Swansea and Sunderland respectively. United were also recently knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by German powerhouse Bayern Munich.

United’s current league position is seventh, which means they will not be playing in the Champions League next season.

Moyes’ replacement has reportedly been suggested to be either veteran manager Louis Van Gaal, Borussia Dortmund’s Jurgen Klopp or United favorite Ryan Giggs, who is expected to retire as a player at the end of the season. Though, these reports remain un-confirmed.

Hopefully the new manager, whoever he is, will be able to turn things around and get Manchester United back on top!
