From a stripper to drug dealer, detective to space man… Matthew McConaughey has never allowed himself to be typecast. And lucky for us, he isn’t planning on it anytime soon either. This time, brace yourselves for probably the only character McConaughey hasn’t portrayed on the big screen — a dapper koala.
For his upcoming film ‘Sing’, an animated musical written and directed by Garth Jennings (The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy) our boy (and Oscar-winner) McConaughey will play the role of a flashy marsupial with a killer accent. The koala will be seen organizing a singing contest between a mouse (played by Family Guy’s Seth MacFarlane) and a punk-rock porcupine (played by the very sensuous Scarlett Johansson).
It is reported the film will feature over 85 hit singles (in your face Happy Feet!) and is scheduled to release December 2016.
