Indian actress Sridevi has announced a co-production with husband Boney Kapoor, of yet another ‘woman-centric’ Bollywood film, following the success of her first such venture, ‘English Vinglish’.
The upcoming film ‘Mom’, will be a comeback vehicle for actor Akhshaye Khanna, as well as featuring two actors from across the border.
Known mainly for his roles in television dramas for decades now Adnan Siddiqui will be playing the role of Sridevi’s husband. Siddiqui has won much critical acclaim for his acting stints in Pakistan. He also featured alongside Angelina Jolie and Irrfan Khan in ‘A Mighty Heart’, the 2007 biographical film about journalist Daniel Pearl.
Actress Sajal Ali, another big name in contemporary Pakistani television, will also be part of the cast. Ali will play the role of Sridevi’s 18-year-old stepdaughter, trapped in a conflict-ridden relationship between the two women. Credited with giving sensitive portrayals in the roles she has done so far, the actress is very popular with audiences at home. With Pakistani dramas having a fan following across the border, it seems that she has impressed viewers there also.
Shooting for the film, directed by Ravi Udyawar, is already underway and both the Pakistani actors featuring in it are currently in Georgia, busy working at what will be their debut venture into Bollywood.
