Good news for Ron Burgundy fans! According to the latest reports Hollywood studio Paramount has moved up the release date for ‘Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues’.

The hotly-anticipated sequel to the 2004 blockbuster ‘Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy’ sees director Adam McKay once again back at the helm. Though Anchorman wasn’t a breakout success when it first released DVD sales of the film fuelled its momentum to attain “cult classic” status. Director McKay revealed to the LA Times “the first movie did great on cable and DVD and that’s where it really took off — much like Austin Powers.”

Reprising their roles as part of the Channel 4 News Team are Steve Carell as Brick Tamland, Paul Rudd as Brian Fantana, David Koechner as Champ Kind and Christina Applegate as Mrs. Veronica Corningstone-Burgundy. Nine years later, we see the team leave behind their beloved San Diego for greener pastures in New York City where they’they’ve been taken-on at 24-hour news network GNN.

In addition to the main cast returning as well as other holdovers from the first film, including Vince Vaughn and Luke Wilson, Anchorman 2 sees the addition new faces: Harrison Ford, Kristen Wiig, Liam Neeson, Meagan Good and if we’re really lucky the Dictator himself, Sacha Baron Cohen. McKay revealed that Harrison Ford was originally taken aback by his directorial style in which he’ll often give the actors new lines to try between takes.

The theatrical release of Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues is only weeks away, and the promotion campaign for the film is getting wilder. After starring in 50 short clips where Ron Burgundy reads news from around the world, Will Ferrell co-anchored a live news broadcast in North Dakota on November 30, staying in character the entire time.

Dressed in his signature rust-colored three-piece suit and a striped tie, he proceeded to read stories off the teleprompter often punctuating them with exaggerated eye blinks and engaging in witty banter with the Bismarck news team. He also clowned around, popping into co-anchor Amber Schatz’s screen while she read a story and telling her after a commercial break, “Amber, you look lovely tonight” before asking her if she was married. When Schatz told him she wasn’t married, Ferrell replied, “Well I am, so don’t get any ideas.”
