More than two decades ago, versatile talent Robin Williams literally transformed into ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ to the tune of Aerosmith’s ‘Dude looks like a Lady’. Now if reports are to be believed, the Oscar-winning actor is reportedly reuniting with director Chris Columbus for what is sure to be a hotly-anticipated sequel.
‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ was a blockbuster hit and has gone on to become one of the most popular comedies of all-time, cementing Williams’ name in Hollywood history as one of the greatest entertainers ever.
In the 1993 original, Williams starred as Daniel Hillard, a jobless voice-actor determined to stay connected with his children after his wife Miranda (played by veteran talent Sally Fields) files for divorce.
When Hillard loses custody of his three children, he decides to disguise himself as Scottish housekeeper ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’, just so he can stay close to his kids. Fans of the original would love to see Williams return to one of his most-beloved roles.
Williams most-recently featured in ‘Lee Daniels’ The Butler’ alongside Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey. He will also appear in ‘The Angriest Man in Brooklyn’, which is slated for release later this year.
