James Bond has become one of cinema’s most-beloved characters. There has been a Bond for every generation. Since ‘Dr. No’ in 1962, we’ve seen James Bond save our world from dastardly villains with evil plans and yet, never retire. Agent 007 turns 24 next year with a brand new film and this time, he’s dressed to thrill!
Over a span of 23 films, we’ve seen some amazing actors take-on the role of the ‘shaken not stirred’ martini-drinking super-spy. From screen legends Sean Connery and Roger Moore, to modern-day icons Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig, each actor has left his individual stamp on the world’s most-loved secret agent.
When Daniel Craig took over the reins from Pierce Brosnan for ‘Casino Royale’, Bond returned to his roots and started from the beginning. Over the two sequels that followed ‘Quantum of Solace’ and ‘Skyfall’, Bond matured into a full-fledged MI6 emissary with a ‘license to kill’.
‘Skyfall’ was helmed by Academy Award-winning director Sam Mendes. Mendes is reportedly set to reprise his directorial duties for ‘Bond 24’ and is bringing back the ol’ gang (or at least those who survived ‘Skyfall’). Craig will slip back into his Brioni (or is it Tom Ford?) tuxedo and reprise his role as 007, alongside Naomie Harris and versatile talent Ralph Fiennes. Though it is still unconfirmed who will be the next ‘Bond Girl’, reports suggest Spanish bombshell Penelope Cruz may be in the running.
‘Skyfall’ writer John Logan will also reportedly reprise his duties for the next installment. Mendes has suggested the new Bond film will be a sequel to the supremely successful ‘Skyfall’, which crossed the billion dollar mark worldwide and has gone on to become the highest-grossing Bond-film of all time.
